Hello, my name is Ron Sauvola. Let me tell you a little about myself and how Sauvola Sawmill got started.
I was inspired at the age of 6 when my two uncles, Robert and Richard Gezelius, allowed me to hang around their sawmill. I loved everything about it. So when I was about 18 (that was in 1959), I built a mill out of the family farm. I worked on that project for 13 years before moving it into the town of Northport WA in 1972. In 1974 I bought some property just outside Northport where I then built a more modern sawmill. This is the same sawmill we use today (though we have made quite a few upgrades and improvements along the way).
In 1991 my son Carl Sauvola joined me in the operations as a partner and vice president of the LLC. Carl is head of the logging business and helps out in many other parts of our operation.
In 2006 we added a new band resaw to the sawmill, which allows us to cut very accurate lumber out of rough sawed lumber. This upgrade gave us the ability to cut all the products you see on our products page.
